About the Role

Our client, DHL Supply Chain, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, is seeking a Business Development Manager (Chinese Speaking) to lead and expand business growth opportunities within East Africa. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in client acquisition, relationship management, and market strategy development—bridging communication between Chinese and English-speaking stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1️⃣ Strategic Growth & Market Development

Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the logistics and supply chain sector.

Develop and implement strategic plans to expand market presence and revenue growth.

Analyze regional logistics trends and identify emerging opportunities in line with company objectives.

2️⃣ Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with key Chinese and international clients.

Serve as the primary liaison for Chinese-speaking customers and partners.

Coordinate and facilitate client meetings, presentations, and negotiations.

3️⃣ Commercial & Operational Coordination

Work closely with operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure smooth project execution.

Prepare business proposals, bids, and tenders aligned with client requirements and DHL’s service standards.

Develop pricing models, forecasts, and performance metrics to track profitability.

4️⃣ Communication & Reporting

Translate and interpret between Chinese and English during meetings and business documentation.

Prepare periodic reports on market performance, sales forecasts, and business results.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy of all business communications.

Qualifications & Requirements:

✅ Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.

A Master’s Degree in Business or Management will be an added advantage.

✅ Experience:

Minimum 5 years of business development experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.

Proven track record in client acquisition, B2B sales, and contract negotiations.

Experience working with multinational or Chinese enterprises is highly preferred.

✅ Language Skills:

Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (HSK Level 5 or above) — written and spoken — is mandatory.

Excellent communication in English (both written and verbal).

✅ Key Competencies:

Strong negotiation, networking, and presentation skills.

Deep understanding of logistics and supply chain processes.

Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools.
